What do I need to configure when creating a remote OPC connection?

When creating a remote OPC connection using the OPC.Net API or OPC Automation, you must set the following in the My Computer dialog box on your computer:
  1. To access the
    My Computer
     dialog box, go to
    Start > Settings > Control Panel
    .
  2. In Control Panel, select
    Administrative Tools
    .
  3. In Administrative Tools, select
    Component Services
    .
  4. In the Component Services window, expand the Console Root folder, and then expand Component Services until you see My Computer.
  5. Right-click
    My Computer
    , and select
    Properties
    .
  6. In the
    My Computer Properties
     dialog box, select the
    Default Properties
     tab.
  7. On the Default Properties tab, select the
    Enable Distributed COM on this computer
     checkbox, and choose None from the
    Default Authentication Level
     drop-down combo box (as shown in the following figure).
