Configure a modem dialer

To access the Dialer Configuration dialog box:
  1. From RSWho, select
    Communications > Configure Drivers
    .
  2. On the
    Configure Drivers
     dialog box, select one of the following from the
    Available Driver Types
     list, and click
    Add New
    .
    • RS-232 DF1 Devices (point to point)
    • Rockwell Software DF1 Polling Master device (multi-drop)
    • DeviceNet Drivers
  3. In the
    Add New RSLinx Classic Driver
    dialog box, type a name for the driver and click
    OK
    .
  4. Perform one of the following:
    • For the RS-232 DF1 Devices, in the
      Configure Allen-Bradley DF1 Communication Devices
       dialog box, select the
      Use Modem Dialer
      check box, and click
      Configure Dialer
      .
    • For the DF1 Polling Master Device, in the
      DF1 Polling Master Driver
       dialog box, click the
      Modem Configuration
       tab, and click
      Global Modem (for all stations)
      , and
      Configure Dialer
      .
    • For the Allen-Bradley 1770-KFD, in the
      Allen-Bradley 1770-KFD Driver Configuration
       dialog box, select the
      Use Modem Dialer
      check box, and click
      Configure Dialer
      .
      TIP:
      To configure the 1770-KFD Modem Dialer driver, you need to disable the hardware handshaking between the remote modem and the 1770-KFD.
From the Dialer Configuration dialog box:
  1. Select
    New > Phone Book.
  2. Enter a new Phone Book Name, and click
    OK.
  3. Enter a new Name and Phone Number, and click
    OK
    .
  4. Select
    Configuration >
    Port
    to change the Port, Parity, Baud Rate, Stop Bits, and Data Bits, and click
    OK
    .
  5. Select
    Configuration > Modem
    to change the Initialize String, Dial String, Command Mode, Dial Suffix, and Hangup String. The
    Modem Configuration
    dialog box also allows you to add or modify the result string the modem returns, or change the timeout and redial number.
  6. Click
    OK
    to close the
    Dialer Configuration
    dialog box.
