Configure a modem dialer
To access the Dialer Configuration dialog box:
- From RSWho, selectCommunications > Configure Drivers.
- On theConfigure Driversdialog box, select one of the following from theAvailable Driver Typeslist, and clickAdd New.
- RS-232 DF1 Devices (point to point)
- Rockwell Software DF1 Polling Master device (multi-drop)
- DeviceNet Drivers
- In theAdd New RSLinx Classic Driverdialog box, type a name for the driver and clickOK.
- Perform one of the following:
- For the RS-232 DF1 Devices, in theConfigure Allen-Bradley DF1 Communication Devicesdialog box, select theUse Modem Dialercheck box, and clickConfigure Dialer.
- For the DF1 Polling Master Device, in theDF1 Polling Master Driverdialog box, click theModem Configurationtab, and clickGlobal Modem (for all stations), andConfigure Dialer.
- For the Allen-Bradley 1770-KFD, in theAllen-Bradley 1770-KFD Driver Configurationdialog box, select theUse Modem Dialercheck box, and clickConfigure Dialer.TIP:To configure the 1770-KFD Modem Dialer driver, you need to disable the hardware handshaking between the remote modem and the 1770-KFD.
From the Dialer Configuration dialog box:
- SelectNew > Phone Book.
- Enter a new Phone Book Name, and clickOK.
- Enter a new Name and Phone Number, and clickOK.
- SelectConfiguration >Portto change the Port, Parity, Baud Rate, Stop Bits, and Data Bits, and clickOK.
- SelectConfiguration > Modemto change the Initialize String, Dial String, Command Mode, Dial Suffix, and Hangup String. TheModem Configurationdialog box also allows you to add or modify the result string the modem returns, or change the timeout and redial number.
- ClickOKto close theDialer Configurationdialog box.
