Configure an Ethernet/IP port

To configure an Ethernet communication port, perform the following steps:
  1. In the
    Network Configuration Type
    box, specify the network type, Dynamic or Static option.
    TIP:
    If you select a Dynamic network type, complete step 2 and then steps 10 through 11 only. If you select a Static network type, complete steps 3 through 11.
  2. Select one of the two interface configuration values BOOTP or DHCP, which the device will use to obtain an initial IP address at start-up.
  3. Specify the
    IP Address
    of the device.
  4. Specify the
    Network Mask
    or subnet mask of the device.
  5. Specify a default
    Gateway Address
    , indicating the IP address of the default gateway of the device.
  6. Specify the address of the
    Primary Name Server
    (or DNS server). This address is used to resolve host names.
  7. Specify the address of the
    Secondary Name Server
    (or DNS server). This address is used when the primary name server is not available or unable to resolve a host name.
  8. Enter a
    Domain Name
    (maximum of 48 characters). This name is used when resolving host names that are not fully qualified.
  9. Enter a
    Host Name
    (maximum of 64 characters).
  10. Review the
    Status
    area
    to learn more about the status of the communication port (Network Interface Configured, Network Interface Not Configured).
  11. When complete, click
    OK
    .
