Uninstall Device Description File Installation Tool and all device description files

When you have finished manually registering device description files for your hardware devices, use this procedure to remove the Device Description File Installation Tool and all device description files.
To uninstall Device Description File Installation Tool and all device description files in the EDS subsystem
  1. Select
    Start > Rockwell Software > Uninstall Device Description File Installation Tool and all device description files
    to launch the uninstall EDS subsystem process.
  2. Click
    OK
    .
    IMPORTANT:
    If you remove one or more device description files using the Device Description File Installation Tool, the device description registration information for use with
    FactoryTalk Linx
     is not removed. The
    Available Devices
     list of the
    Add Device Selection
     dialog box is intact. However, the device description file removal may impact the following products which share the EDS subsystem on your computer:
    • RSNetWorx
    • RSLinx Classic
    • FactoryTalk Linx
    • RSLogix 5000
       or Studio 5000
      Logix Designer
    • Logix Designer
       (
      RSLogix 5000
      ) Module Profiles
    • FactoryTalk Services Platform
    If any of the products listed above is installed on your computer, we recommend that you do
    not
     uninstall the Device Description File Installation Tool and all device description files in the EDS subsystem.
