Set up redundant alarms and events

Redundancy maximizes alarm and event availability in the case of:
  • Computer hardware failure
  • Software failure on one computer
  • Power failure on one computer
For step-by-step instructions on setting up redundant alarms and events, refer to the section
Configure redundancy for alarms and events
in the
FactoryTalk Alarms and Events
System Configuration Guide.
Before you begin
  1. Plan and implement your
    FactoryTalk
    distributed system.
  2. Configure alarm servers, tag data servers, and OPC UA servers initially without redundancy.
  3. Set up graphic displays and verify they are all working properly on the
    FactoryTalk
    network distributed application.
Set up redundant alarm servers
  • Server tag-based alarm servers
  • Device-based alarm servers
  • OPC UA servers
When you are done
  1. Configure server switchover behavior (
    favor primary
    or
    favor current
    ).
  2. Verify redundant operation by switching between primary and secondary servers manually.
