How do I open Log On to
FactoryTalk
?
  • From the Rockwell Software menu, click
    FactoryTalk

    Log On to FactoryTalk
    .
Use
Log On to FactoryTalk
to log on or log off the network directory or the local directory, view current logon and network status information, change the password, or log on as a different user. If unable to log on to a particular directory, verify that the user account has permissions to that directory.

Logon Information
Describes the current user, which directory the user is logged on to, and the date the user logged on

Lists the current server, the connection state, and the amount of time before the cache times out.
Change Logon

with another user account.
Log Off

to log off the directory currently in use. This does not log off all directories. May remain logged into
FactoryTalk
on the other directory.

Change the registry key
UpdateCacheFileTimeByOverwriting
to determine how the cache timeout is reset.
  • 1 means the cache timeout will be reset after the client is connected to FactoryTalk Directory, and the directory file is transferred to replace the local cache file.
  • 0 means the cache timeout will be reset after the client is connected to FactoryTalk Directory.
The registry key location is:
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Rockwell Software\RNA\Directory\UpdateCacheFileTimeByOverwriting (for 32-bit operating systems)
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Rockwell Software\RNA\Directory\UpdateCacheFileTimeByOverwriting (for 64-bit operating systems)
