Configure a FactoryTalk application with a FactoryTalk Linx server

These steps are based on that you are setting up a FactoryTalk application using FactoryTalk Administration Console.
To configure a FactoryTalk application with a FactoryTalk Linx server
  1. In FactoryTalk Administration Console, add a FactoryTalk Application.
  2. Add a FactoryTalk Linx server to the application, and then specify the FactoryTalk Linx server properties.
  3. Open the
    Communication Setup
    editor, and then add drivers and devices to your network.
    A driver is the software interface that allows you to communicate with your target hardware device.
  4. Create a shortcut that point to the device from which you want to obtain data.
    1. In the
      Device Shortcuts
      pane of the
      Communication Setup
      editor, select
      Add
      , and then specify the shortcut name.
    2. From Network Browser, select the target device.
    3. In the
      General
      box, specify the shortcut properties.
      Processor, Redundant, Symbolic, EDS Parameter, and CIP Object shortcuts are supported.
    4. Select
      Apply
      .
