RTD Server

Excel Real Time Data (RTD) Interface
Excel RTD enables RTD functions within a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet to access a moderate amount of control system data. There are two methods available to access data. All data available to FactoryTalk Linx, the FactoryTalk Linx OPC UA Connector and the FactoryTalk Live Data OPC DA interface, FactoryTalk Resource and Status server, and FactoryTalk View SE HMI tags is fully available. By creating a custom namespace, selected scalar items can be chosen and even renamed for access by an Excel workbook.
IMPORTANT: The RTD function doesn't allow multiple users to use it on one computer.

Namespace
Determines how the Excel RTD interface will present information to Excel.
  • Folders with scalar data
Allows Excel to access all data as scalar from all FactoryTalk application sources. For more information about Excel RTD, see Use Excel RTD.
  • Custom namespace
Permits the creation of user defined structures and tags within FactoryTalk Linx Gateway and assigns these definitions to tag data from FactoryTalk application data sources. This allows you to reorganize or remap the underlying information to support a different naming convention often required to support OPC UA Companion data models. For more information, see Custom RTD Namespace.
