Commission from list dialog box

Use the
Commission from list
dialog box to guide the device startup sequence and IP address assignment process from items in the configuration list that do not have MAC addresses assigned. Use this option when you know the IP addresses but need to capture the MAC addresses. This process presents each item in the configuration list that does not have a MAC address assigned and waits for the device to initiate a BOOTP/DHCP request. Once a device makes a BOOTP/DHCP request, its MAC address is captured, added to the configuration list and the IP address is sent to the device. The tool then moves to the next device in the list until all the MAC addresses are captured.
TIP:
  • Before beginning this process, pre-load the configuration list with the desired IP addresses. Use the configuration list export and import to bring the configuration list from an external source. Leave the MAC address field blank so that this function will prompt the complete the assignment.
  • Before beginning this process, set all the hardware offline (disconnect from the network or remove power).
  • It is recommended to switch devices to static mode after IP Addresses are assigned so that they retain the address.
