Find MAC with Commission from list

When creating the configuration list, the MAC address for a device can be left blank. Use the
EtherNet/IP Address Commissioning Tool
to capture or collect MAC addresses to complete the configuration list.
As the device first sends a request to the
EtherNet/IP Address Commissioning Tool
, the MAC address and other device information was sent to the server as well. Then the EtherNet/IP Address Commissioning Tool can obtain the MAC address to complete the configuration list.
TIP:
This method of assigning IP addresses is recommended if the devices need to utilize pre-defined addresses, the devices are configured to utilize BOOTP/DHCP at startup and they can be taken off-line temporarily. It is recommended to switch devices to static mode after IP Addresses are assigned so that they retain the address.
Prerequisites
  • Select a Network Interface Card (NIC).
  • Complete the Network information on the
    Settings
    tab.
  • Create an item on the
    Configuration
    tab that includes an IP address but no MAC address.
To obtain MAC address for a device
  1. From the
    EtherNet/IP Address Commissioning Tool
    , click
    Unassigned
    or
    Configuration
    .
  2. Click
    Commission from list
    , read the information, and then click
    OK
    .
  3. Define the configuration sequence, and then click
    Start
    .
    TIP:
    You can select any column heading to sort the list by that column.
  4. Power on the device you would like to assign with the desired IP address, the MAC address will be updated and this item is completed on the
    Configuration
    tab.
