Block a MAC address
The MAC address blocking function restricts the
EtherNet/IP Address Commissioning Tool
from processing BOOTP/DHCP requests from unwanted devices by identifying their unique MAC addresses. When the MAC address blocking function is enabled and a BOOTP/DHCP request is received from a device with a MAC address that is on the Blocked MAC
list, the request will be ignored, and the device will not be provided an IP Address.Prerequisites
- Select a Network Interface Card (NIC).
- On theSettingstab, complete the Network information and enable the MAC address blocking function.
To block a MAC address
- From theEtherNet/IP Address Commissioning Tool, clickBlocked MAC.
- ClickAdd, enter the information in theAdd Itemdialog box, and then clickYes.TIP:
- The MAC address must be unique in theBlocked MAClist.
- The MAC address can also be added to theBlocked MAClist from theUnassignedlist.
