I cannot log on from PanelView Plus

If you are having trouble logging on from
PanelView Plus
, this might be because:
  • Your
    PanelView Plus
might be disconnected from the network, or the domain controller might be down. If you are using
    Windows
    -linked user accounts or
    Windows
-linked group accounts, these accounts are disconnected if the network or domain controller is down. To correct this problem, reconnect the
    PanelView Plus
to the network, or bring the domain controller online, as appropriate.
  • FactoryTalk View
    does not support the
    Windows
    groups named Authenticated Users and
    Windows
    Administrators when running on
    PanelView Plus
    .
  • Windows
Server 2008 is not supported as the domain controller for
    PanelView Plus
    .
    Windows
    -linked user account and
    Windows
-linked group accounts cannot log onto the terminal successfully if using
    Windows
Server 2008 as the domain controller. To correct this problem, use
    Windows
    2000 Server.
FactoryTalk View
does not support the
Windows
groups named Authenticated Users and
Windows
Administrators on
PanelView Plus
By default,
FactoryTalk Services Platform
version 2.10 (CPR 9) or later:
  • Allows any
    Windows
Administrator user account to log on to either directory
. The installation process automatically adds the local
    Windows
    Administrators group to the
    FactoryTalk
    Administrators group in each
    FactoryTalk Directory
    .
  • Allows any authenticated
    Windows
user, not just administrative users, to log on to either directory
. The installation process automatically adds all members of the local
    Windows
    Authenticated Users group to the
    FactoryTalk
    Local Directory and
    FactoryTalk
    Network Directory. Any
    Windows
user that has successfully logged on to
    Windows
on the local computer is automatically a member of the Authenticated Users group.
  • Allows all new user accounts full access permissions
. The installation process automatically sets system policies to allow all new user accounts added to either directory full access to that directory by default.
When running on
PanelView Plus
,
FactoryTalk View
does not support the
Windows
Administrators group or the
Windows
Authenticated Users group. This means that you cannot log on to
FactoryTalk
from
PanelView Plus
unless you explicitly create user accounts and then specify security permissions for
PanelView Plus
users.
