Regenerate Certificate

  1. In
    FactoryTalk Administration Console
     , right-click an OPC UA Connector, and then select
    Properties
    .
  2. In , select
    Certificate Management
    .
  3. On , select
    Outgoing Certificate
    , and then select
    Regenerate
    .
Use
Regenerate Certificate
 to select whether to restart the
FactoryTalk Linx
OPC
 UA Connector service.

If the
Restart
FactoryTalk Linx
OPC
 UA Connector service
 checkbox is selected, the following occurs after selecting
Continue
:
  • The
    FactoryTalk Linx
    OPC
     UA Connector regenerates the certificate.
  • The
    FactoryTalk Linx
    OPC
     UA Connector service restarts.
  • FactoryTalk
     clients do not receive
    OPC
     UA tag values from any
    OPC
     UA Server connected to this
    FactoryTalk Linx
    OPC
     UA Connector until the reset is complete.
  • OPC
     UA Servers receive the regenerated certificate when the reset of the
    FactoryTalk Linx
    OPC
     UA Connector is complete.
If the
Restart
FactoryTalk Linx
OPC
 UA Connector service
 checkbox is cleared, the following occurs after selecting
Continue
:
  • The
    FactoryTalk Linx
    OPC
     UA Connector regenerates the certificate.
  • The
    FactoryTalk Linx
    OPC
     UA Connector service does not restart.
  • FactoryTalk
     clients continue to receive tag values from all
    OPC
     UA Servers that do not require a regenerated certificate.
  • OPC
     UA Servers continue to use the previous certificate.
    Tip
    : When the
    FactoryTalk Linx
    OPC
     UA Connector service is restarted at a later time, the new certificate is delivered to the
    OPC
     UA Servers. When this occurs, the
    OPC
     UA Servers might require user interaction to approve or accept the new certificate.
Cancel
The
FactoryTalk Linx
OPC
 UA Connector does not regenerate the certificate.
The
FactoryTalk Linx
OPC
 UA Connector service does not restart.
FactoryTalk
 clients continue to receive tag values from all
OPC
 UA Servers that do not require a regenerated certificate.
OPC
 UA Servers continue to receive the previous certificate.
