Example: Communicate with KEPServer Enterprise

To establish communication between FactoryTalk Linx OPC UA Connector and KEPServer Enterprise, configure related settings in both applications.

To communicate with KEPServer Enterprise

  1. Configure OPC UA settings for a KEPServer Enterprise project.
    1. From the notification area, right-click
      KEPServerEnterprise
      , and then select
      Configuration
      .

    2. In
      [Connected to Runtime] - KEPServerEnterprise 6 Configuration
      , select
      File
      Open
      to browse to the KEPServer Enterprise project.

    3. Right-click
      Project
      , and then select
      Properties
      .

    4. In
      Property Editor
      , select
      OPC UA
      .
      opcuac_kepserver_opcua
    5. Configure
      Allow Anonymous Login
      :
      • Set to
        Yes
        when initially configuring to verify the OPC UA Client-Server connection.
      • Set to
        No
        for an additional layer of security.
      TIP:
      • When set to
        Yes
        , a username and password are not required to establish the connection.
      • When set to
        No
        , users cannot sign in as the default user in
        User Manager
        . Users can sign in as the Administrator (provided that a password was set during installation). Use
        User Manager
        to set a password for Administrator or create a user and set all user permissions.
        To open
        User Manager
        , from the notification area, right-click
        KEPServer Enterprise
        and select
        Settings
        User Manager
        .

  2. Configure the OPC UA endpoint in KEPServer Enterprise.
    1. From the notification area, right-click
      KEPServerEnterprise
      , and then select
      OPC UA Configuration
      .

    2. In
      OPC UA Configuration Manager
      , select
      Server Endpoints
      .
    3. Select the URL
      opc.tcp://127.0.0.1:49370
      , and then clear the
      Enabled
      checkbox.

    4. Select the URL
      opc.tcp://
      <ComputerName>
      :49370
      , and then select the
      Enabled
      checkbox.
      TIP: We recommend that you copy the URL and paste it in FactoryTalk Linx OPC UA Connector.
    5. Select
      Edit
      .
    6. In
      Endpoint Definition
      , verify the security policies supported by the OPC UA Client.
      opcuac_kepserver_securitypolicy
    7. Select
      OK
      .
  3. Configure the KEPServer Enterprise endpoint in FactoryTalk Linx OPC UA Connector.
    1. In , select
      OPC UA Servers
      .
    2. In
      Endpoint URL
      , enter
      opc.tcp://
      <Computer Name>
      :49370
      , which is the same URL enabled in KEPServer Enterprise.

    3. (optional) If
      Allow Anonymous Login
      in KEPServer Enterprise is set to
      No
      , enter the username and password on
      OPC UA Servers
      .
      opcuac_kepserver_password
    4. Select
      Apply
      .
    5. In
      Endpoint URL
      , verify the OPC UA connection status.
