Switch OPC UA Server

In a redundant system, when the active OPC UA Connector disconnects from
FactoryTalk Diagnostics
, the standby OPC UA Connector automatically connects to the OPC UA Server. You can also switch the OPC UA Server manually, especially when the specific OPC UA Connector or the connected OPC UA Server requires maintenance or upgrade.
When a backup OPC UA Connector is turned on, its status shows
Starting
, indicating that it has lost the server. You can manually force a namespace upload from the OPC UA Connector to determine how long this process takes for a configured server endpoint.
If a switchover occurs to the OPC UA Connector while it is still initializing, the
FactoryTalk
software communicating with the OPC UA Server will not be able to obtain data until the initialization completes. To avoid this, wait an appropriate amount of time for the OPC UA Connector endpoint to complete its namespace initialization before starting a manual switchover.

Prerequisites

  • At least one OPC UA Server is added on the
    OPC UA Server
