Controller status alarms

Rockwell Automation
Device Servers (
FactoryTalk Linx
) generate diagnostic alarms related to
Studio 5000
controllers. A named shortcut is configured in
FactoryTalk Directory
or
FactoryTalk View
SE that represents communication between the device server and the
Studio 5000
controller.
If
FactoryTalk Alarms and Events
is enabled for the shortcut that references the controller then a single
controller status alarm
is created with the same name as the shortcut. The controller status alarm indicates problems with the connection to the controller or the status of the controller.
A controller status alarm goes to an
In Alarm
state in the following conditions:
  • Unable to connect to controller.
  • Unable to get list of alarms contained in the controller because there is no program or program download in progress.
  • Unable to subscribe to one or more alarms in the controller because the controller has insufficient memory to create a subscription.
  • Connection to the controller is lost.
  • Controller switches to Program Mode.
  • Program download.
  • Non-recoverable program fault.
  • Recoverable program fault.
The alarm message is not user-configurable for the control status alarm and its severity is configured in the
Severity Settings Properties
(Policy Settings tab) dialog box.
