Automatic Diagnostic Event Summary Properties - General tab
How do I open the Automatic Diagnostic Event Summary Properties dialog box - General tab?
- InFactoryTalk View Studio, add an Automatic Diagnostic Event Summary object to a display.
- Double-click the Automatic Diagnostic Event Summary object, and then clickProperties.
Use the
General
tab in the Automatic Diagnostic Event Summary Properties
dialog box to change how information is displayed in the Automatic Diagnostic Event Summary, and how operators interact with the information at runtime.The following table describes the settings on the
General
tab.Setting | Description |

Show | The check boxes in this area are used to control the display of interface elements in the Automatic Diagnostic Event Summary. |
Column headings | To show column headings, select this check box. To hide column headings, clear this check box. |
Grid lines | To show grid lines between rows and columns in the event list, select this check box. To hide grid lines, clear this check box. |
Horizontal scroll bar | To show a horizontal scrollbar if the information displayed in the Automatic Diagnostic Event Summary is wider than the Automatic Diagnostic Event Summary object, select this check box. If the information displayed outside of the visible area of the object is not relevant to the operator, or if scrolling the event list obscures important information that must always remain visible, clear this check box. |
Vertical scroll bar | To show a vertical scrollbar if the information displayed in the Automatic Diagnostic Event Summary is taller than the Automatic Diagnostic Event Summary object, select this check box. If the information displayed outside of the visible area of the object is not relevant to the operator, or if scrolling the event list obscures important information that must always remain visible, clear this check box. |
Detail pane | To show the detail pane, select this check box. To hide the detail pane, clear this check box. |
Toolbar | To show the toolbar, select this check box. To hide the toolbar, clear this check box. |
Status bar | To show the status bar at the bottom of the Automatic Diagnostic Event Summary, select this check box. To hide the status bar, clear this check box. |
Tooltips | To show tooltips for the buttons on the toolbar, select this check box. To hide tooltips for the buttons on the toolbar, clear this check box. |
Column headings | The settings in this area control the appearance of the column headings in the Automatic Diagnostic Event Summary. |
Background color | To select a color for the background for the column headings, click the color box to choose a proper color as needed. Choose a color that contrasts well with the text color of the column headings for better visibility. |
Text color | To select a color for the text in the column headings, click the color box to choose a proper color as needed. Choose a color that contrasts well with the background color of the column headings. Contrast levels might be different on different monitors, therefore choose high-contrast combinations such as black and white. |
Row text | The settings in this area control the appearance of the text in the rows of the event list in the Automatic Diagnostic Event Summary. |
Selection foreground color | To select a color for the text in items that are selected in the event list, click the color box to choose a proper color as needed. |
Selection background color | To select a color for the background of items that are selected in the event list, click the color box to choose a proper color as needed. |
Font | To select a font for the text in the rows of the event list, click the Browse button. |
Grid | The settings in this area control the appearance of the grid in the event list in the Automatic Diagnostic Event Summary. |
Background color | To select a background color for the event list in the Automatic Diagnostic Event Summary, click the color box to choose a proper color as needed. |
Line color | To select a color for the horizontal and vertical grid lines in the event list in the Automatic Diagnostic Event Summary, click the color box to choose a proper color as needed. |
Detail pane | The settings in this area control the appearance of the information displayed in the detail pane at the bottom of the Automatic Diagnostic Event Summary. |
Background color | To select a color for the background of the detail pane, click the color box to choose a proper color as needed. Choose a color that contrasts well with the color of the text in the detail pane. |
Text color | To select a color for the text that is displayed in the detail pane, click the color box to choose a proper color as needed. Choose a color that contrasts well with the background color of the detail pane. Bear in mind that contrast levels might be different on different monitors, therefore choose high-contrast combinations such as black and white. |
Font | To select a font for the text in the detail pane, click the Browse button.Choose a font that is designed for on-screen viewing. Avoid decorative fonts that are difficult to read at small sizes. |
Height | To size the detail pane, type a percentage value for the size of the detail pane relative to the Automatic Diagnostic Event Summary object, or use the up or down arrows to set the value. |
Toolbar | The settings in this area control the appearance of the toolbar that is displayed at the top of the Automatic Diagnostic Event Summary. |
Background color | To select a background color for the toolbar buttons, click the color box to choose a proper color as needed. |
Text color | To select a color for the caption text on the buttons on the toolbar, click the color box to choose a proper color as needed. |
Font | To select a font for the caption text on the buttons on the toolbar, in the font list, select the font you want to use. Choose a font that is designed for on-screen viewing. Avoid decorative fonts that are difficult to read at small sizes. |
Icon size | To select a size for the icons on the toolbar, in the icon size list, select the font size you want to use. Use larger icon sizes for touch-screen terminals. |

Background color | To select a background color for the status bar, click the color box to choose a proper color as needed. |
Text color | To select a color for the text on the status bar, click the color box to choose a proper color as needed. |
Font | To select a font for the text on the status bar, in the font list, select the font you want to use. The font size is set automatically, based on the size of the icons on the status bar. |
Icon size | To select a size for the icons on the status bar, in the icon size list, select the font size you want to use. The size of the icons determines the height of the status bar and the size of the font for text on the status bar. Use larger icon sizes for touch-screen terminals. |
