Add a user-computer pair
How do I open Select User and Computer?
- In theFactoryTalk Administration ConsoleExplorer, right-click an item and selectSecurity.
- On thePermissionstab,selectAdd.

- In theFactoryTalk Administration ConsoleExplorer, expandSystem > Policies >Product Policiesand open aFeature Securityitem.
- From theFeature Security Properties Policy Settingtab, selectConfigure Security.
- InConfigure Securable Action, selectAdd.
Use
Select User and Computer
to pair a group of users, or an individual user, with a group of computers, or an individual computer. Then, specify security settings for the pair. For example, set permissions for a resource that allow or deny access to the pair. Prerequisites
- Obtain the appropriate permissions to specify security settings on the selected resource.
To add a user-computer pair
- Navigate toSelect User and Computer.
- UnderFilter Users, to limit the user accounts displayed in theUserslist and define the type of user accounts that can be created, select either:
- Show groups onlyNew user groups and Windows-linked groups can be created if needed
- Show users onlyNew FactoryTalk User and Windows-linked user accounts can be created if needed
- Show allNew accounts cannot be created when this option is selected.
- (optional) To create a new user or group account, selectCreate New, choose the type of account to create, and then specify the account settings.
- In theUserslist, select a user account or user group account.
- UnderFilter Computers, to limit the computer accounts displayed in theComputerslist and define the type of computer accounts that can be created, select either:
- Show groups onlyNew computer group accounts can be created if needed
- Show users onlyNew computer accounts can be created if needed
- Show allNew computer accounts cannot be created when this option is selected.
- (optional) To create a new computer or computer group account, selectCreate New, choose the type of account to create, and then specify the account settings.
- In theComputerslist, select a computer account or computer group account.
- SelectOK.The selected user-computer pair displays in the permissions list. Explicit permissions can now be configured for the pair.
