Local directory and the FactoryTalk Directory Configuration Wizard
Running the FactoryTalk Directory Configuration Wizard to reconfigure the
FactoryTalk
local directory performs these operations:- Backs up the original directory.The backup file is namedLocalInstall*.bakand is located inC:\ProgramData\Rockwell\RNAServer\Backups. The location of the backup files is also logged toFactoryTalk Diagnostics. UseFactoryTalk DiagnosticsViewer to view the diagnostic log files.
- Adds theWindowsAdministrators group to theFactoryTalkAdministrators group if an error occurred while installing or upgrading theFactoryTalk Services Platformon a computer for the first time, or if a valid administrator account could not be found.This means that any user account that is a member of the localWindowsAdministrators group on the local computer has administrative access to the directory.
- Adds theWindowsAuthenticated Users group to the local directory, allowing any user who is logged on toWindowsto access the local directory.TIP:TheWindowsAuthenticated Users group includes all users and computers whose identities have been authenticated. The Authenticated Users group is used to override security in the local directory by granting access to all authenticatedWindowsuser accounts. Authenticated Users does not include Guest even if the Guest account has a password.
- Updates policies in the directory, and adds the $AnonymousLogon account to the directory, if an error occurred while upgrading an existingFactoryTalk Directory.This account is givenCommon > Read and Common > List Childrenaccess to theFactoryTalk Directory. This account is used whenFactoryTalkproducts require service access to the directory.
- Changes the password, if the password to aFactoryTalkaccount that is a member of theFactoryTalkAdministrators group expires.
- Resets the account if aFactoryTalkadministrator account becomes locked.
