Reset a password

Users occasionally forget user account passwords. Membership in the
FactoryTalk Security
 Administrators group or equivalent permissions is required to manually reset a
FactoryTalk
 user account password. If the user account is a
Windows
-linked account, the password must be reset in
Windows
.
To reset a password
  1. In
    FactoryTalk Administration Console
    Explorer
    , expand
    System
     >
    Users
    , right-click the user account, and select
    Properties.
  2. In
    User Properties
    , select
    Reset Password
    .
  3. In
    New
    password
    , type a new password for the user account.
    TIP:
    The maximum password length is 64 characters. However, the dialog box only displays 35 characters. Characters not shown are still included in the password.
  4. In
    Confirm new password
    , type the same password typed in the previous step, and select
    OK
    .
    TIP:
    To reset a password in both a network directory and a local directory, reset the password in each directory.
