How do I open Initial Connection?
Initial Connection
 appears automatically after you launch
FactoryTalk Live Data Test Client
. To use
Initial Connection
 to switch to a different data source, click
File > Reconnect.
Use
Initial Connection
 to:
  • Connect to an OPC DA server, such as
    RSLinx Classic
  • Connect to a
    FactoryTalk
     server, such as
    FactoryTalk Linx
     or
    FactoryTalk View SE
  • Load a configuration file containing data items from an
    OPC
     or
    FactoryTalk
     server
Configure the settings to establish the initial connection between the
FactoryTalk Live Data Test Client
 and the data source.
Setting
Description
OPC DA Server
Connect to an OPC DA server, such as RSLinx Classic, to monitor, read, and write data items in the data server.
Factory Talk
Connect to a FactoryTalk server, such as FactoryTalk Linx or FactoryTalk View SE, to monitor, read, and write data items in the data server.
Load Config File
Load a config file to open a collection of previously saved data items and groups for monitoring. A config file is saved in XML format.
OPC DA Server Machine
If the OPC DA server is located on the same computer as the FactoryTalk Live Data Test Client, select Local.
If the OPC DA server is located on a remote computer, select Remote, and then enter the name of the computer in the box.
OPC DA Server Locale ID
The locale identifier for the OPC DA Server machine.
