Connect FactoryTalk Live Data Test Client to a FactoryTalk server

Connect
FactoryTalk Live Data Test Client
 to a
FactoryTalk
 server, such as
FactoryTalk Linx
, an OPC UA server connected to the FactoryTalk Linx OPC UA Connector, or
FactoryTalk View SE
, to monitor, read, and write data items in the data server.
Prerequisites
  • If connecting to a data server in a
    FactoryTalk
     Network Directory, configure the Network Directory Server location.
To connect to a
FactoryTalk
 server
  1. Start the
    FactoryTalk
     server. For example:
    • To monitor tags in a
      FactoryTalk Linx
       server, start
      FactoryTalk Linx
      .
    • To monitor tags in a
      FactoryTalk View SE
       server, start the
      FactoryTalk View SE
       Client or
      FactoryTalk View Studio
      , and then open the application.
    • To monitor tags from a
      FactoryTalk Linx
      OPC
       UA Connector, start the connector and an OPC UA server it is configured to interface with.
  2. Go to
    Rockwell Software > FactoryTalk Tools
    and open
    FactoryTalk Live Data Test Client
    .
  3. In
    Initial Connection
    , select
    FactoryTalk
    .
  4. In
    Select
    FactoryTalk Directory
    , select the
    FactoryTalk Directory
     that contains the server.
  5. (optional) If prompted, log on to the
    FactoryTalk Directory
    .
  6. Expand the directory tree, then select the
    FactoryTalk
     server from the list of available servers, then select
    OK
    .
    If the
    FactoryTalk
     server is not shown, verify the correct
    FactoryTalk Directory
     selection, then verify it is running and accessible over the network.
