Axis - Dynamics configuration page

Configure the motion settings for the
Micro800
controllers that support motion. Add an axis to create the axis configuration pages. Use the
Axis<x> - Dynamics
configuration page to do the following actions:
  • Configure the maximum velocity, acceleration, deceleration, and jerk settings to start and stop the axis under standard operating conditions.
  • Configure the axis emergency stop settings in case of an emergency.

Setting
Description
Normal Operation Profile
Start/Stop velocity
Specifies the initial velocity when an axis starts to move, and the final velocity before the axis comes to a stop.
Start/Stop velocity
is displayed in user unit per second and rpm (revolutions per minute). Entering the velocity in either box updates the other value.
The default user unit is mm/s, which is specified using the
Position
parameter on the Motor and Load configuration page.
The value is in single precision floating format and is from 0.005 through 500.0 mm/s. The default value is 5.0 mm/s or 300.0 rpm.
The value of
Start/Stop
velocity cannot be greater than the value of
Max velocity
.
Max velocity
Specifies the target or maximum velocity for the axis.
Max velocity
is displayed in user unit per second and rpm.
The value is in single precision floating format and is from 0.005 through 500.0 mm/s. The default value is 500.0 mm/s or 30000.0 rpm.
Max acceleration
Specifies the maximum acceleration rate that determines the speed at which the axis ramps up.
Acceleration is the rate of velocity change.
The value is in single precision floating format and is from 0.005 through 50000.0 mm/s
2
. The default value is 50000.0 mm/s
2
.
Max deceleration
Specifies the maximum deceleration rate, determining the speed at which the axis comes to a stop.
Negative acceleration is usually described as deceleration.
The value is in single precision floating format and ranges from 0.005 through 50000.0 mm/s
2
. The default value is 50000.0 mm/s
2
.
Max jerk
Specifies the maximum rate of change in acceleration over time.
Jerk is the measure of acceleration rate change when producing a Force. To minimize the effect of jerk, avoid abrupt acceleration changes.
The value is from 0 through 50000.0 mm/s
3
. The default value is 50000.0 mm/s
3
.
Emergency Stop Profile
Stop type
Specifies the emergency stop behavior of the axis.
Immediate stop
halts the axis instantly.
Deceleration stop
uses settings for
Stop velocity
,
Stop deceleration
, and
Stop jerk
to stop the axis.
The default stop type is
Deceleration stop
.
Stop velocity
Specifies the velocity rate for the axis during an emergency stop in user unit per second and rpm. Entering the velocity in either box updates the other value.
The value is from 0.005 through 500.0 mm/s. The default value is 5.0 mm/s or 300.0 rpm.
The value of
Start/Stop
velocity cannot be greater than the value of
Max velocity
.
Stop deceleration
Specifies the deceleration rate for the axis during an emergency stop.
The value is in single precision floating format and is from 0.005 through 50000.0 mm/s
2
. The default value is 5000.0 mm/s
2
.
The parameters for
Normal Operation Profile
and
Emergency Stop Profile
operate independently. For example, the deceleration for
Emergency Stop Profile
can be greater than the maximum deceleration for
Normal Operation Profile
.
Stop jerk
Specifies the jerk rate for the axis during an emergency stop. The value is in single precision floating format and is from 0 through 50000.0 mm/s
3
.  The default value is 0.0 mm/ s
3
.
The default values in the table are dependent on the values of
Pulses per revolution
and
Travel per revolution
that you specified on the Axis - Motor and Load configuration page.
The default values in the table are the values when:
  • Pulses per revolution
    is set at
    200.0
    .
  • Travel per revolution
    is set at
    1.0
    .
