Duplicate variables

In the variable gird, you can copy one or more variables to:
  • The same variable gird
  • Another variable grid in the same
    FactoryTalk Design Workbench
    session
  • Another variable grid in a different
    FactoryTalk Design Workbench
    session
TIP:
  • Automatically generated variables, such as I/O variables, interrupt variables, and motion variables, cannot be duplicated.
  • When a variable with the same name exists in the destination grid, the duplicated variable will be named <
    variable-name>_Copy_<number>
    .
To duplicate variables
  1. Open the global or local variable grid.
  2. Select the variable that you want to duplicate.
    Use
    Shift
    or
    Ctrl
    to select multiple variables.
  3. In the variable grid, copy the variable by doing one of the following:
    • Right-click the row header of any selected variable, and then select
      Copy
      .
    • Select
      Ctrl+C
      .
  4. In the destination variable grid, paste the variable by doing one of the following:
    • Right-click a row, and then select
      Paste
      .
    • Select
      Ctrl+V
      .
  5. From the
    File
    menu, select
    Save
    .
The copied variables are pasted at the end of the variable grid.
