Device definition dialog box parameters

Parameter
Description
Device type
Displays the device catalog number and type.
Name
Specifies the device name.
The name must be IEC_61131 compliant. If an invalid character is entered in this field or if the name exceeds 40 characters, the software ignores the character.
Description
Specifies the description for the device.
The description must be within 512 characters. If the description exceeds the maximum length, the software ignores any extra characters.
Chassis size
Sets the chassis size. Only valid sizes are available.
Slot
Specifies the slot number where the device resides from 0 through the maximum number of devices determined by the selected chassis size minus 1.
Revision
Specifies the major and minor revisions of the device. The valid range for minor revision is from 1 through 255.
Electronic keying
Defines the electronic keying used for the device. Electronic keying compares the device defined in the project to the installed device. If keying fails, a fault occurs.
Valid values include:
  • Exact Match
  • Compatible Module
  • Disable Keying

Ethernet Port mode
Specifies the A1/A2 port mode for the device.
Valid values include:
  • A1/A2: Dual - IP
    . Allows separate IP addresses and network settings configured for A1 and A2.
  • A1/A2: Linear/DLR
    . Combines A1 and A2 into a single IP address and logical port.
Ethernet address
Specifies the IP configuration for the device. Separate Ethernet address parameters for A1 and A2 ports are available when

. Possible options include:
  • Private network
    . Select the value from 1 through 254.
  • IP address
    . Enter a unique IP address to identify each node on the IP network.
  • Host name
    . Enter a fully qualified domain name, such as
