Historian server overview

In the
Historian Server Connection Properties
dialog, the left panel displays the overview of the
FactoryTalk Historian
server connection. The following table shows the options in this panel.
TIP:
You must be a FactoryTalk administrator to change the server properties.
Option
Description
Name
Displays the name of the
FactoryTalk Historian
server connection.
This field cannot be changed.
Server or collective name
Defines the
FactoryTalk Historian SE
server name. If the
FactoryTalk Historian
server is hosted on a collective, displays the name of the collective.
This field cannot be changed.
Description
(optional) Describe the
FactoryTalk Historian
server connection. For example, use this field to describe a component's location, identify a contact person or number if there is a failure, or track changes or version information. A maximum of 255 characters is allowed.
Launch System Management Tools
Open the System Management Tools. Use the System Management Tools to configure buffering and set other
FactoryTalk Historian
server properties. To learn more about the System Management Tools, select
Help
from the main menu.
Manage in MS Excel
Launch Microsoft Excel. In Microsoft Excel, use PI Builder to import and export data points (tags) in the
FactoryTalk Historian
server.

You must install PI Builder first to use its features. For details, see Install PI Builder.
