Configure the sample FactoryTalk Batch Server

To set up the sample demonstrations, configure the
FactoryTalk® Batch
Server to use the
SampleDemo1
application in the
FactoryTalk
Network Directory. Use the
FactoryTalk Administration Console
to configure the
FactoryTalk Batch
Server.
TIP: To set up the sample demonstrations for
FactoryTalk Batch

To configure the sample
FactoryTalk Batch
Server:
  1. Open
    FactoryTalk Administration Console
    and sign in to the
    FactoryTalk
    Network Directory.
  2. In
    FactoryTalk Administration Console
    Explorer
    , expand the
    SampleDemo1
    application. Right-click
    SampleDemo1_Server
    and select
    Properties
    .
  3. In the
    FactoryTalk Batch Services Properties
    dialog, select the
    General
    tab.
  4. In the
    Computer hosting the primary FactoryTalk Batch Server
    box, enter or browse to the host computer where the primary
    FactoryTalk Batch
    Server resides.
  5. Select
    Apply
    to save the data in the
    General
    tab.
  6. If
    FactoryTalk
    e
    Procedure
    is part of your system, do these extra steps:
    1. Select
      Enable FactoryTalk eProcedure
      .
    2. Select
      Apply
      to save the data in the
      General
      tab.
    3. Select the
      Project Settings
      tab.
    4. In the
      Server
      box, select a server.
    5. In the
      Server directories
      area, for the
      Project path strategy
      , select
      Custom paths
      .
    6. Select the
      Area Model
      browse button. The
      Browse for Area Model
      dialog opens.
    7. Open the
      C:\Users\Public\Documents\Rockwell Automation\Batch\SampleDemo1\Recipes
      folder, select the
      ice_cream1ep.cfg
      file, and then select
      Open
      .
    8. Select
      Apply
      to save the data in the
      Project Settings
      tab.
    TIP: In order for the
    e
    Procedure
    Server to start, you must define the
    Instructions
    path and have an instruction file for each instruction-based phase in the area model. The
    SampleDemo1
    application automatically populates this path. (See the for instructions on defining instruction-based phases.)
  7. Select
    OK
    to save the data in each tab of the
    FactoryTalk Batch Services Properties
    dialog and close the dialog.
  8. Select
    File
    Exit
    to exit the
    FactoryTalk Administration Console
    .
    TIP: These steps set up the
    FactoryTalk Batch
    Server to run the tutorial steps in this manual. There are many other settings to consider when setting up the
    FactoryTalk Batch
    system. (See the for more information on the
    FactoryTalk Batch Services Properties
    dialog.)
