Encoder Configuration view parameters
The parameters on
Encoder Configuration
define the standard connection to the controller.Parameter | Description |
|---|---|
Monitor Input Voltage | Enable or disable voltage monitoring. Selecting this parameter enables voltage input monitoring. |
Enable Position Scaling | Sets Position Scaling to 1 and enables the scaling function. For a single-turn device, Enable Endless Shaft Functionality is always disabled. |
Enable Endless Shaft Functionality | Enables the endless shaft functionality. This parameter is only enabled when Enable Position Scaling is selected. |
Numerator | Sets the numerator for the endless shaft functionality, where the steps per revolution are set as a fraction. Valid values are from 1 through 4096. For a single-turn device, the value is hard-coded to 1. For a multi-turn device, the default value is 4096. In a multi-turn device, this parameter is only enabled when Enable Endless Shaft Functionality is selected. In a single-turn device, this parameter is never enabled. |
Denominator | Sets the denominator for the endless shaft functionality, where the steps per revolution are set as a fraction. Valid values are from 1 through 65536. For a single-turn device, the value is hard-coded to 1. For a multi-turn device, the default value is 1. In a multi-turn device, this parameter is only enabled when Enable Endless Shaft Functionality is selected. In a single-turn device, this parameter is never enabled. |
Resolution (CPR) | Sets the counts per turn. Valid values for Resolution are from 1 through 262144. When disabled, the value for Resolution is set to the default value of 262144. When Enable Endless Shaft is selected, the last value entered is displayed, but ignored. This parameter is only enabled when Enable Position Scaling is selected and Enable Endless Shaft Functionality is not selected. |
Revolutions | Sets the number of turns. For a multi-turn device, the valid values for Revolutions are 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048 and 4096. For a single-turn device, the Revolutions value is always disabled and hard-coded to 1. For a multi-turn device, the default value and the disabled value is 4096. In a multi-turn device, this parameter is only enabled when Enable Position Scaling is selected and Enable Endless Shaft Functionality is not selected. |
Range | When Enable Position Scaling is selected and Enable Endless Shaft Functionality is cleared, the value for Range is the Resolution value multiplied by the number of Revolutions . For multi-turn device, the allowed values are 4 to 1073741824 and the default value is 1073741824. In a single-turn device, the allowed values are 4 to 262144, and the default value is 262144.This parameter is only enabled for multi-turn device when Enable Position Scaling is selected and Enable Endless Shaft Functionality is selected. If either Enable Position Scaling or Enable Endless Shaft Functionality is not selected, this parameter is disabled. |
Direction | Set the Direction of the count to Clockwise or Counterclockwise . The default value is Clockwise . |
Velocity Units | The default value is Counts/s. The valid values are:
|
Preset | Sets the Preset value, in counts. The maximum value is 1 less than the total measuring range. The valid values are 0 to (Range - 1). |
Velocity number of pulses to average (Integration) | Sets the number of velocity values from which a moving average is formed. The valid values are from 0 through 128. |
Velocity Filter Cutoff frequency (low pass bandwidth) | Sets the bandwidth of the low pass filter. The valid values are from 0 through 500. |
Acceleration number of pulses to average (Integration) | Sets the number of acceleration values from which a moving average is formed. The valid values are from 0 through 128. |
Acceleration Filter Cutoff frequency (low pass bandwidth) | Set the bandwidth of the low pass filter. The valid values are from 0 through 500. |
