Rockwell Automation, Inc. (NYSE: ROK), the world’s largest company dedicated to industrial automation and digital transformation, today announced its FactoryTalk® Analytics™ VisionAI™ solution with new VisionStream™ and VisionLink™ capabilities, helping manufacturers simplify vision inspection deployment, improve quality control and extend the value of existing vision investments.

FactoryTalk Analytics VisionAI is an AI-powered inspection solution designed to help manufacturers improve product quality, maximize yield and gain critical insights from production data. The no-code platform enables quality personnel and plant operators to train, deploy and manage AI-based inspection models without requiring specialized machine vision expertise.

The latest release introduces VisionStream, which automatically learns product characteristics directly from live production data and detects anomalies without requiring manual image labelling. The new capability simplifies deployment and accelerates time to value by reducing the time and expertise typically required to create and maintain vision inspection models.

The release also adds VisionLink, a new capability that allows manufacturers to add AI-powered inspection to existing vision cameras and systems. By connecting third-party cameras to FactoryTalk Analytics VisionAI running on Rockwell Automation edge hardware, manufacturers can enhance inspection performance, access advanced analytics, enable cloud-based backup and management capabilities and extend the lifecycle of installed vision assets without replacing existing hardware.

“Manufacturers are increasingly looking for practical ways to adopt AI while maximizing the value of their existing automation investments,” said Jan Van Den Bossche, regional vice president, software and control, EMEA, Rockwell Automation. “With VisionStream and VisionLink, FactoryTalk Analytics VisionAI makes AI-powered inspection more accessible by reducing deployment complexity, enabling self-training capabilities and allowing manufacturers to enhance existing vision systems with advanced AI inspection and analytics.”

Key features of FactoryTalk Analytics VisionAI include:

  • VisionStream auto-training: Automatically learns product characteristics from live production data and detects defects without requiring manual image labelling, helping accelerate deployment and simplify model creation.
  • VisionLink AI upgrades: Adds AI inspection capabilities to existing FTP-enabled third-party vision cameras, helping manufacturers improve inspection performance while extending the value of installed equipment.
  • Enhanced inspection accuracy: Supports improved inspection performance on complex and highly variable production applications through advanced anomaly detection and configurable learning rates.
  • Seamless automation integration: Integrates with Rockwell Automation control systems, including Logix controllers and visualization technologies, supporting closed-loop quality processes.
  • Flexible edge-to-cloud architecture: Combines edge-based inferencing with cloud-based model training, deployment and management through FactoryTalk® Hub™ cloud manufacturing portal.

FactoryTalk Analytics VisionAI helps manufacturers address common challenges associated with traditional rule-based vision systems, including complex setup, ongoing maintenance requirements and limited scalability. The solution is designed for controls engineers and manufacturing teams, enabling AI-powered inspection without requiring prior expertise in artificial intelligence or machine vision.
