This course will introduce the student to the skills necessary to operate and maintain CEMS and troubleshoot common issues. Students will be presented with the information needed for the identification and function of major CEMS components, how to collect CEMS data readings, steps required for calibration, preventive maintenance procedures (PMs), and troubleshooting.
There are no prerequisites for this course.

Identify and state the function of the major components of Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS).
Describe how to collect CEMS data readings.
Describe the basic steps required for calibrating CO2 analyzers.
Describe the basic steps required for calibrating NOx analyzers.
Describe the basic steps required for calibrating SO2 analyzers.
Describe the basic steps required for calibrating opacity monitors.
Describe the basic steps required for calibrating stack flow monitors.
Describe the basic steps required to change calibration gas bottles and enter new data in the engineering work station (EWS).
Describe the basic steps required to perform weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual preventive maintenance procedures (PMs).
Distinguish what is and is not part of the certified loop.
Identify and state the function of the major components of probe and sample system.
Describe the basic steps required for troubleshooting probe and sample systems.
Identify and state the function of the major components of megawatt transmitters.
Identify and state the function of the major components of Gas Fuel Flow transmitters.
