Helping the World Recover
If there was ever a year when we lived our promise of Expanding Human Possibility, it was 2020. Everything we do for our customers is about increasing efficiency, reducing energy usage, improving worker safety, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Our automation technology and expertise has been central in the fight against the global coronavirus pandemic and helping the world recover.

Environmental Performance
We focus our environmental stewardship on reducing energy, waste and water use. We use most of our energy for electricity to light, heat, and cool our buildings—which means most of our CO2 emissions are indirect. Known as Scope 2, these emissions are generated by the utilities, not our locations.
Energy Efficiencies
We measure and report energy use and carbon emissions at our largest locations including core manufacturing and office sites. We calculate the balance of our carbon footprint using emission factors based on location and occupied office space. Energy is a minor percentage of the total operational costs at these locations.
Water and Waste
We remain committed to recycling or reclaiming almost all the solid waste we generate each year, and to an annual net-zero water use goal. We use water mostly to drink, for sanitary purposes, and to cool and clean during manufacturing.
Reducing Emissions
We met our 2022 goal to reduce emissions normalized to sales by 30% four years early. In 2020, we announced a new goal to be carbon neutral by 2030 for Scope 1 (direct) and Scope 2 (indirect) emissions. Our plan to achieve this goal is to continue to pursue best practices to reduce energy demand through ongoing monitoring, efficiency, and optimization at our sites.
How We Support Your Sustainable Goals
Our solutions help our customers achieve greater efficiencies for themselves and meet their own sustainability goals.
Challenge accepted: Rockwell Automation and JMP produce 10,000 ventilators in response to the pandemic
When Health Canada requested 10,000 ventilators to support the fight against COVID-19, JMP Solutions reached out to the Rockwell Automation Cambridge facility for help. JMP is a longtime customer and asked if our team could quickly create enclosures—of their own design—for ventilator units. This was a product our facility never made before. The casings required stainless steel, a product the team had not used in decades. Through strong teamwork and dedication, the team provided a prototype within six hours of the request. The team rearranged priorities and worked on changes from the customer to ensure each ventilator was properly fit. Our Operations and Engineering Services team collaborated with different parts of the Cambridge campus to find the best tools and solutions with daily, sometimes hourly meetings with the team and customer. As a result, all 10,000 cases were completed and ready by September 2020.
