The demand from our customers to improve machine safety has increased exponentially in the past few years. Larger customers place a high priority on addressing this issue enterprise-wide. Customers are looking for companies such as Rockwell Automation to act as their consultant to identify risks, prioritize mitigation needs, develop a project, and validate that the risks have been properly mitigated.
So that Rockwell Automation can continue to service these needs, the Rockwell Automation Safety Initiative has looked to our PartnerNetworkTM and Solution Partners such as Revere Controls and Barry-Wehmiller Design Group to provide engineering and installation services. Working together, Rockwell Automation takes the lead in steps 1, 2 and 3 of the safety life cycle (see illustration).
We then engage partners to develop design details and drawings and fabricate panels (step 4). Depending on where the customer's production facility resides, our partner might then handle
installation (step 5), or it might be more cost-effective for Rockwell Automation to lead the installation.
From there, we validate that the installation meets the functional requirements and was installed properly (the rest of step 5).
The process of engaging one of our Machinery Safety partners is not a trivial effort. The machinery Safety Partner designation is reserved for an elite group of system integrators that pass a thorough assessment of their safety application expertise, experience and capabilities, and show a commitment to maintaining excellence in machinery safety applications over the long term.
