Overview

In this course, students will learn the foundations of inverters, including placing and removing from service.  This course also covers how to use, identify, and test ground detection switches, breakers, and circuit grounds.

There are no prerequisites for this course.

Objectives

   Explain the operational concepts of inverters.

   Describe the function and operation of the components of an inverter.

   Describe the basic steps required for placing an inverter in service.

   Describe the basic steps required for removing inverters from service.

   Explain how to use D.C. ground detection switches as supplied by battery charger manufacturers.

   Explain which D.C. breakers cannot be turned off during operation.

   Identify unwanted circuit grounds.

   Describe the process for eliminating unwanted circuit grounds, otherwise known as ground faults.

   Explain equipment grounding concepts.

   Describe the basic steps required for testing of proper equipment grounds.

   Describe how to perform D.C. ground detection.
