Windows Runtime installation and configuration

Runtime needs to be installed on the HMIs or IPCs that you wish to control remotely through the
FTRA Manager
.

Installation requirements - Windows

Runtime can be installed on remote devices coming with the following Windows versions:

Runtime download, setup and start - Windows

To download Runtime for installation onto remote Windows devices, proceed as follows:
  1. Access the
    FTRA Manager
     from the remote device and select
    Tools
    Download
    .
  2. Select the Runtime executable file to download, depending on the operating system of the remote device.
  3. After downloading the executable file, run the setup program on the remote device.
  4. You can open Runtime:
    • Through the Windows search bar.
    • By clicking on the Runtime icon showing up in the little menu that opens up when you click on the arrow in the Windows taskbar next to the connection icon.
    • By selecting the Runtime icon in the task bar.
    NOTE: Initially, the Runtime UI pane will show the ID and password to register the remote device to your
    FTRA Manager
     domain.

Runtime start - Linux Debian / Ubuntu

Since Runtime is already installed in Linux Debian / Ubuntu devices, the Runtime UI pane opens up automatically when you start the remote device.

Runtime UI pane

After installation, Runtime features its own user interface pane. It initially allows you to connect to network through the
Network Connection
 section.
Once Runtime is connected, you can access the
Information
 (circled 'i' icon) or the
Settings
 (gear icon) sections by clicking on the related icons at the top right corner of the UI pane.

Network connection

After the device is registered to the domain through the
FTRA Manager
, when you start the Runtime user interface, the Runtime UI pane displays the
Network Connection
 section. This section shows whether your device is connected to the network and which users are currently connected to the device itself (it displays the domain/username and public IP address of any connected devices).
In this section, you can select
Disconnect
 or
Connect
 Runtime to set it respectively offline or online.

Information

This section allows you to access information about the version of the Runtime software package and any configurable settings.
  • To view the Runtime software package information, select the
    Information
     (circled 'i') icon:
    • Version:
       The Runtime software package currently installed.
    • Domain:
       The domain to which the device is registered.
    • Device:
       The name of the device.
    • License status:
       The type of client
      entitlement
       associated with your subscription.
    • License key:
       The key used to register your device with the domain.
    • Website:
       A link to the support website.
  • To view the configuration settings, select the
    Settings
    (gear) icon.

Settings

You can configure the Runtime settings either locally from the remote device or remotely through the
Interactive Access
Remote Desktop
 section.
Be it locally or remotely, once you have gotten access to the remote device desktop, you can configure the Runtime settings as follows:
  1. Open the Runtime user interface.
  2. Click on the
    Connect
     button and establish a VPN connection with the
    FTRA Manager
    .
  3. Click on the
    Settings
     (gear) icon.
    The
    Settings
     pane contains four tabs as described below.
    • Options:
       Use the items on this tab to modify the network connection configuration and select whether the device should reconnect to remote access services after it reboots.
    • VPN:
       This tab lists the networks to which Runtime can be connected through a VPN connection.
      • Refresh List:
         Click this button to add new networks that are not displaying on the list.
      • Reserve a static IP pool:
         If your network uses static IP addresses and you wish that IP addresses within a certain range are used for VPN connections, select this option and then select
        Select
         to set the IP address range.
    • Sharing:
       Use the items on this tab to modify the Internet sharing configuration.
      NOTE: See the Internet Sharing section for further information on this subject.
    • Log:
       Use the items on this tab to view log information.
