Shelve an alarm

Shelve an alarm to prevent state changes to the alarm. Do this when a piece of equipment is under maintenance. Shelve an alarm from the
Alarm Summary
screen. Shelving an alarm in the
Alarm Summary
shelves only the individual alarm condition in the selected row. The alarm remains shelved until the shelve duration from the controller expires automatically or until manually unshelving the alarm. The HMI designer may change the Shelve Duration and Max Shelve Duration values using
Logix Designer
.
To shelve an alarm
  1. Open the
    Alarm Summary
    screen or the
    Alarm Manager
    screen.
  2. Select the alarm:
    • Individual alarm.
      Tap to select the alarm. Using an external keyboard,
      Tab
      to highlight the alarm list. Select the
      Up Arrow
      and
      Down Arrow
      to select alarms in the list.
    • Page of alarms.
      To select all alarms visible on the current page of alarms, select
      Select Page
    • All alarms.
      To select all alarms, including those not visible on the current page of alarms, select
      Select All
  3. At the bottom of the alarm table, select
    Shelve
    ViewRTAlarmSumShelveButtonV5. A
    Shelved
    icon appears in the
    Inhibit State
    column of the alarm table for the shelved alarm. Notification of new state changes to the alarm cannot occur.
    TIP:
    Tips:
    • Using an external keyboard, tab to highlight a button on an alarm table and press
      Enter
      .
    • A shelved alarm:
      • Can enter the In Alarm state. The event that changes the state of the alarm to In Alarm does not appear in the Alarm Summary table.
      • Remains unacknowledged until acknowledged. If a shelved alarm requiring acknowledgment becomes active, it does not transition to the unacknowledged state. The alarm remains acknowledged until unshelving the alarm. If the alarm is active when unshelving, the alarm is unacknowledged.
      • Appears in an
        Alarm Summary
        only if the shelved alarm is unacknowledged.
      • Appears in an
        Alarm Manager
        with the current state of the shelved alarm.
