Restrict access to the HMI device

Restrict access to the HMI device by selecting a method for users to log on to the HMI device:
To restrict access to the HMI device
  1. On the
    Project > Project Properties > Log On Method
    tab, select a Security option:
    • Use user name/password for logging on
    • Use PIN for logging on
  2. On the
    Tools > Security Administration > Users
    tab, enter a password or PIN for each user.
  3. (optional) On the
    Security Administration > Policies
    tab, adjust the complexity requirements for passwords by specifying
    Password Policy Settings
    :
    • Log off the user after a period of inactivity.
      Set in minutes how long the user has to remain inactive to be automatically logged out.
    • Minimum password length
      . Specify the minimum amount of characters required. The maximum number allowed is 14.
    • Password history
      . Type the number of previous passwords to remember. This enforces a password history and sets how frequently you can reuse old passwords. The maximum number allowed is 24.
    • To disable this feature, set the
      Number of Passwords to Remember
      to zero.
    • Passwords must meet complexity requirements.
      Select this option to enforce complexity requirements when you create or change passwords.
      TIP:
      Passwords that meet complexity requirements must:
      • Not contain the User Name.
      • Not contain any portion of the Full Name.
      • Contain characters from three of four categories:
        • Uppercase characters of European languages (A through Z, with diacritic marks, Greek and Cyrillic characters)
        • Lowercase characters of European languages (a through z, sharp-s, with diacritic marks, Greek and Cyrillic characters)
        • Numbers 0 through 9
      Non-alphanumeric characters ~!@#$%^&*_-+=`|\(){}[]:;"'<>,.?/
