Add a Security Administration user account

To control user access to the runtime application at different levels, create a user account for every person that will interact with the HMI Device. Assign a security role and password and/or PIN to each user. It is recommended to define no more than 500 users.
To add a Security Administration user account
  1. Select
    Tools > Security Administration
    and select the
    Users
    tab.
  2. Select
    Add user
    AddIcon or start typing in the last user card to create a new user card.
    TIP:
    Typing in the
    User Name
    box opens a card for data entry.
  3. In the
    User Name
    box, type the name that the user will use to log on to the HMI device. This name displays in the banner on the HMI device.
    TIP:
    Tips:
    • The name can contain up to 40 characters of numbers, letters, and underscores.
    • The name must not begin with a number, contain spaces, have more than one underscore in a row, or end with an underscore.
    • The
      User Name
      box cannot contain Unicode characters.
  4. (optional) In the
    Full Name
    box, type the first and last name, up to 100 characters, of the user.
  5. (optional) In the
    Description
    box, type a description, up to 100 characters, of the user.
  6. In the
    Role
    box, select the security role to assign to the user.
  7. Enter and confirm the password and/or PIN the user will use to log on to the HMI device.
    • Passwords must adhere to the policies you configured on the
      Policies
      tab on the
      Security Administration
      dialog box.
    • PINs must have a minimum of four numbers and a maximum of eight numbers.
    • If
      Password Must Meet Security Requirements
      is selected on
      Policies
      tab, passwords must meet complexity requirements.
    • Passwords can contain Unicode characters.
      TIP:
      To meet complexity requirements, passwords must:
      • Not contain the User Name.
      • Not contain any portion of the Full Name.
      • Contain characters from three of the four following categories:
        • Uppercase characters of European languages (A through Z, with diacritic marks, Greek and Cyrillic characters)
        • Lowercase characters of European languages (a through z, sharp-s, with diacritic marks, Greek and Cyrillic characters)
        • Numbers 0 through 9
        • Non-alphanumeric characters ~!@#$%^&*_-+=`|\(){}[]:;"'<>,.?/
  8. Select
    OK
    to save the changes and close the
    Security Administration
    dialog box, or select
    Add User
    AddIcon to continue adding users.
    TIP:
    Tips:
    • Copy and paste
      Security Administration
      user accounts from other
      View Designer
      projects to save time.
    • To reset the password for a user, select
      Reset
      on the account card for that user.
