Copy a folder

Copy a folder in the
Project Explorer
to reuse it within or across
View Designer
projects. Copying a folder also copies all of its subfolders.
IMPORTANT:
Copying a folder to a different project does not copy screens or popups that contain user-defined properties.
Prerequisites
  • Open the source
    View Designer
project containing the content to copy.
  • If the content is to be pasted into another project, for each project, start an instance of
    View Designer
and open the target project. It is recommended to open no more than three instances of
    View Designer
    at one time.
To copy a folder
  1. In the source project, in the
    Project Explorer
, right-click the folder to copy and select
    Copy
    .
  2. In the target folder, right-click the location to paste the folder and select
    Paste
    .
    TIP:
    Tips:
    • Copying a root-level folder (for example,
      Navigation Menu
      ,
      User-Defined Screens
      , and
      Predefined Screens
      ) is not allowed.
    • Copying a folder in the
      Navigation menu
      between projects is not allowed.
    • Copying and pasting subfolders between root-level folders.
    • Paste folders three levels deep. The new folder appears at the same level as the item on which the folder is pasted. Folders at the same level must have unique names. Pasting a folder with the same name as an existing folder appends a number to the name of the pasted folder. For example, FolderName_002.
    • Only content from the
      Predefined Screens
folder can be copied into a
      Predefined Screens
      folder. Copying the
      System Banner
      is not allowed.
    • Cut a folder by selecting
      Cut
      instead of
      Copy
      .
    • Copying a folder copies any children of the folder as well as any localized data associated with the folder.
