Copy a folder
Copy a folder in the
Project Explorer
to reuse it within or across View Designer
projects. Copying a folder also copies all of its subfolders.
IMPORTANT:
Copying a folder to a different project does not copy screens or popups that contain user-defined properties.
Prerequisites
- Open the sourceView Designerproject containing the content to copy.
- If the content is to be pasted into another project, for each project, start an instance ofView Designerand open the target project. It is recommended to open no more than three instances ofView Designerat one time.
To copy a folder
- In the source project, in theProject Explorer, right-click the folder to copy and selectCopy.
- In the target folder, right-click the location to paste the folder and selectPaste.TIP:Tips:
- Copying a root-level folder (for example,Navigation Menu,User-Defined Screens, andPredefined Screens) is not allowed.
- Copying a folder in theNavigation menubetween projects is not allowed.
- Copying and pasting subfolders between root-level folders.
- Paste folders three levels deep. The new folder appears at the same level as the item on which the folder is pasted. Folders at the same level must have unique names. Pasting a folder with the same name as an existing folder appends a number to the name of the pasted folder. For example, FolderName_002.
- Only content from thePredefined Screensfolder can be copied into aPredefined Screensfolder. Copying theSystem Banneris not allowed.
- Cut a folder by selectingCutinstead ofCopy.
- Copying a folder copies any children of the folder as well as any localized data associated with the folder.
