Alias a property in an Add-On Graphic

Alias a property in the definition of an Add-On Graphic to specify a unique value for the property on an Add-On Graphic instance. Otherwise, the property does not appear on an instance of the Add-On Graphic. Reuse the Add-On Graphic by changing the value of the aliased property on an instance of an Add-On Graphic.
To alias a property in an Add-On Graphic
  1. In the definition of the Add-On Graphic, select a graphic element.
  2. In the
    Properties
window for the selected graphic element, right-click the property to alias and select
    New Alias
. This creates an alias property in the
    Property Definition
tab below the definition of the Add-On Graphic.
    TIP:
    View Designer
allows creating an alias for a property only if the property is not bound.
  3. In the
    Name
column, type the name of the alias to appear in the
    Properties
window of an instance of the Add-On Graphic.
    TIP:
    Tips:
    • By default, the name of the aliased property in the
      Property Definition
tab is the name of the property appended with _001 or increment number.
    • The
      Alias For
column automatically specifies the selected graphic element name and property. The format for the alias is ElementName.PropertyName. For example, if the selected graphic element is a mixing hopper and the aliased property is LevelColor, the
      Alias For
      column displays MixingHopperSide_001.LevelColor.
  4. (optional) In the
    Description
column for the aliased property in the
    Property Definition
tab, enter a description for the aliased property.
  5. In the
    Category
column for the aliased property, type the category in which the aliased property is to appear in the
    Properties
window for an instance of the Add-On Graphic.
  6. Add instances of the Add-On Graphic to a screen.
  7. In the
    Properties
window for each instance, expand the category for the aliased property and then enter a value for the property.
    TIP:
    Tips:
    • Creating more than one alias for the same property of a graphic element is not supported.
    • Binding the property of a graphic element or Add-on Graphic instance to an alias of a screen, popup or Add-On Graphic definition is not allowed
Each instance of the Add-On Graphic shows the value of the aliased property on the HMI device.
