Select an icon for a screen in the Navigation menu

An icon represents each screen in the
Navigation menu
on the HMI device. The default icon is the standard
Screen
icon supplied by
Studio 5000
View Designer
. Change the icon to a snapshot of the screen, or use another graphic as the icon. A folder in the
Navigation menu
is represented by a folder icon. Selecting a different icon for a folder is not allowed.
To select an icon for a screen in the Navigation menu
  1. In the
    Project Explorer
    , expand the
    User-Defined Screens
    folder or the
    Predefined Screens
    folder and select the screen:
    The properties for the screen appear on the
    Properties
    tab. Opening the screen displays its properties. For example, open a screen and click a blank portion of the screen. The properties of the open screen appear on the
    Properties
    tab.
  2. In the
    Properties
    window, expand the
    Navigation Menu
    category.
  3. In the
    Icon
    list, select an option:
    • Screen Snapshot.
      Displays a snapshot of the screen in the Navigation menu. In the
      Screen Snapshot
      box, select the graphic of the snapshot. Select the snapshot only if the screen is open in
      View Designer
      . If the screen is not open, "Screen is not loaded" appears. To update the picture in the
      Navigation menu
      after changing the appearance of the screen, select the snapshot graphic again.
    • Predefined icon.
      Displays an icon for the item in the
      Navigation menu
      . In the
      Predefined Icons
      box, select the desired icon.
    • Folder.
      Displays an image from the hard drive for the item in the
      Navigation menu
      . In the
      Folder
      box, select the desired image. To select an image in a location other than the default
      Pictures
      folder, browse to select the desired image. Select any .BMP, .JPG, .GIF, .PNG, or .TIF image from your hard drive for an item in the
      Navigation menu
      . Selecting an .SVG image for the icon for a screen is not allowed.
      The selected image appears in the
      Icon
      box.
      Tips:
      • All items in the
        Navigation menu
        on the HMI device appear white when unselected and blue when selected. To view both the selected and unselected versions of the icon to appear in the
        Navigation menu
        , in the
        Properties
        window, mouse over the selection in the
        Icon
        box.
      • The icon assigned to an item from the
        Properties
        tab appears in the
        Navigation menu
        on the HMI device.
      • The icon that appears next to the item in the
        Project Explorer
        indicates the type of item -- screen, shortcut, folder, or the
        Home
        screen.
