What are system tags?

System tags are predefined tags that provide information, such as the current date and time of the HMI device, or the number of active and acknowledged alarms in the runtime application. System tags are automatically created when you create an HMI project and can be accessed from the
Tag Browser
in
View Designer
.
View Designer
provides several system tags in these categories:
  • Alarms.
    Includes system tags that provide count, status information, and export information about the alarms in the runtime application.
  • AutoLogoff.
    Includes system tags that provide status and configuration information about automatically logging off the user.
  • Controller.
    Includes system tags that provide status information about the controllers referenced in the HMI project.
  • DataLogs.
    Includes system tags that provide status information and export information.
  • DateTime.
    Includes system tags that provide current date and time values of the HMI device, and enables you to configure date, time, time zone values in the HMI device.
  • Device.
    Includes system tags that provide information about the HMI device, and enables you to configure the name of the HMI device and enable downloads and firmware updates to the HMI device.
  • Display.
    Includes system tags that provide information, such as the name of the currently displayed screen on the HMI device, and enables you to configure display settings such as the brightness level of the screen.
  • Enet.
    Includes system tags that display information such as the name or IP address of the Ethernet network, and enables you to configure the IP, DNS, MAC address and subnet mask of the Ethernet network.
  • EnetLink1 and EnetLink2.
    Includes system tags that display information on the connection status and speed of the Ethernet links on the HMI device, and enables you to configure the communication channel (Full Duplex) and connection speed.
  • ProjectEvents.
    Includes system tags that provide the number of errors in project events.
  • Security.
    Includes system tags that provide name and role of the currently logged on user.
  • SMTP.
    Includes system tags that provide configuration for the SMTP server.
  • VNC.
    Displays information about the VNC server.
