Move a graphic element

Move graphic elements by using a mouse, a keyboard, or by changing its properties.
To move a graphic element:
  • Using the mouse.
    On the screen, select and drag a graphic element to the desired location.
  • Using the keyboard.
    Select the graphic element to select it.
    • To move the graphic element 1 pixel, press the arrow key in the preferred direction.
    • To move the graphic element 10 pixels at a time, press
      Shift
      +an arrow key.
  • Changing the properties of the graphic element.
    1. Select a graphic element.
    2. On the
      Properties
      window, select the
      Properties
      tab and expand the
      Position and Size
      category.
    3. Enter any positive number in the
      X
      and
      Y
      properties:
      X
      . Specifies the horizontal coordinate, in pixels, from the upper left corner of the screen to the upper left corner of an unrotated graphic element, or to the center of a rotated graphic element. If the graphic element is in a group, X is relative to the parent.
      Y
      . Specifies the vertical coordinate, in pixels, from the upper left corner of screen to the upper left corner of an unrotated graphic element, or to the center of a rotated graphic element. If the graphic element is in a group, X is relative to the parent.
      TIP:
      Green lines called Smart Guides appear when moving a graphic element with the mouse to help position the graphic element with precision. Smart Guides do not appear when using the keyboard or the X and Y properties to move a graphic element.
