Create and use a Quick Watch list

The Quick Watch list is a collection of tags that appear in the
Quick Watch
 pane for monitoring. Create Quick Watch lists in the
Output
 window,
Watch
 tab. Watch all the tags and parameters in an open routine, or add tags to a customized Quick Watch and apply a name to add the list to the ACD file, L5K file, and L5X file.
IMPORTANT:
To maintain a persistent list of tags or members of tabs, make sure to name the Quick Watch list. Quick Watch lists without names are lost when the
Logix Designer
 application closes.
To create and use a Quick Watch list:
  1. On the main menu, select
    View > Watch
     to show the
    Watch
     tab.
  2. To create a Quick Watch list that contains all the tags and parameters in an open routine, on the
    Quick Watch
     menu, select an open routine. All the tags and parameters in the routine are added to the Quick Watch list.
  3. To create a customized Quick Watch list, use one of these methods to add tags, program parameters, or parameters of another program to the list:
    • Drag and Drop
       - Select a row, or multiple rows, within the
      Tag Editor
       or
      Data Monitor
       and drag the row(s) into the
      Watch
       pane. To select consecutive tags, select the first tag, press and hold
      Shift
      , and select the last tag. To select nonconsecutive tags, press and hold
      Ctrl
       and select each tag.
      TIP:
      Cannot drag tags from an Add-On Instruction tag editor into a Quick Watch list.
    • Cut, Copy, Paste
       - Copy and paste consecutive tags or nonconsecutive tags from the
      Tag Editor
      ,
      Data Monitor
      , or another Quick Watch list. Cut and paste tags from another Quick Watch list.
    • Tag Browser
       - In the
      Name
      column, select the arrow to open the
      Tag Browser
      . Use the
      Tag Browser
       to select the tags to monitor. The scope of the
      Tag Browser
       is set automatically to the last active editor, unless the last active editor is an Add-On Instruction editor. If there is no last active editor, the default scope is
      Controller
      .
    • Type tag name
       - Enter the name of the tag to monitor.
  4. (Optional) To save the list with the project file, in the box to the right of the
    Quick Watch
     menu, enter a name for the Quick Watch list and press
    Enter
    .
    TIP:
    Select
    Refresh
     to refresh the tags in the Quick Watch list. When tags are added to a routine, the tags are not automatically added to a Quick Watch list for that routine.
