Edit an Add-On Instruction

Use these steps to edit an Add-On Instruction (AOI).
TIP:
The instruction must be unsealed. If the Add-On Instruction is a safety instruction, it cannot be safety locked or have a safety task signature.
To edit an Add-On Instruction:
  1. In the
    Controller Organizer
    , expand the
    Assets
    folder and double-click the AOI to open the
    Add-On Instruction Definition Editor
    dialog box.
  2. Configure parameters and local tags.
  3. Consider if any scan mode routines are necessary.
  4. Select the
    Help
    tab to view the instruction as it will appear in each language.
  5. Navigate to the Logic routine using the
    Logic
    button on the
    Definition Editor
    or by selecting it in the
    Controller Organizer
    .
    TIP:
    You can only edit AOI logic when offline.
  6. To add an alarm for the AOI, right-click the instruction in the
    Controller Organizer
    and select
    Edit Alarm Definitions
    . When the
    Alarm Definitions List
    opens, right-click and select
    New Alarm Definition
    .
    You can also right-click a scalar tag or parameter of an AOI or a scalar member of a data type and select
    Add Alarm Definition
    .
