Import FactoryTalk View tag CSV files
Use the Tag Import and Export Wizard to import
FactoryTalk View
tag CSV files.
TIP:
- The applications you select must be created onFactoryTalk View6.10 or later, or already converted toFactoryTalk View6.10 or later, otherwise the import process will not succeed.
- Project and database names must be unique on any one computer. Do not attempt to import a project to a location on the same computer (on a different drive, for example) that already has a project with the same name.
- We recommend that you close the project while importing as the speed is much faster.
- If you are editing the CSV file, make sure all the required items are filled in correctly, otherwise the importing process may cause unrecoverable damage to your tag database.
To import
FactoryTalk View
tag CSV files- In the firstTag Import and Export Wizarddialog box, selectImport, and then clickFactoryTalk Viewtag CSV filesNext.
- Select theFactoryTalk Viewproject that you want to import the files into. The Project type can be Machine Edition or Site Edition.
- Click the browse button to the right of theProjectbox to open theSelect Destination Projectwindow
- In theSelect Destination Projectwindow, navigate to the destination project's location.
- Select the project and clickOpen.
- Select the application development file (*.med, or *.sed) and clickOpen.
- ClickNext.
- Select the CSV files you want to import.
- For Machine Edition applications, only tag data can be imported.
- For Site Edition applications, tag and alarm data can be imported.You can accept the source file provided, type another path and file name, or click theBrowsebutton (...) to select a file from theSelectdialog box.FactoryTalk ViewExport FileIMPORTANT: Do not have the CSV file open by other software such as Microsoft Excel when you are importing or exporting, otherwise the operation will fail.
- Specify the import options.
- Verify the import information and then clickFinish.
TIP:
If you import a tag CSV file that contains large amounts of tags and alarms while a runtime application is running, you will need to wait a few minutes, and the
Server Busy
dialog box may show.To avoid this problem, stop the runtime application before importing a tag CSV file.
