HMI Server Backup and Restore
Use the HMI Server Backup and Restore utility to back up an HMI server that is running, and to restore an HMI server that is not running.
Run the utility only on a computer where the HMI server software is installed:
- If you are backing up an HMI server, you must run the HMI Server Backup and Restore utility on the same computer as the HMI server you want to back up. Save the backup copy to a local destination path (on the same computer), or to a mapped drive (on a remote computer). The utility copies the file and folder structure of an application to the destination folder. The utility does not back up the HMI server's project files to a single file.
- If you are restoring an HMI server, you must run the HMI Server Backup and Restore utility on the computer where you want to restore the HMI server. If you want to overwrite an existing HMI server with one contained in a backup, you must stop the target HMI server from running before you can restore its project files. While the target HMI server is running, its tag database files are locked and cannot be overwritten.
The utility can also be run from the command line. For example, to include it as a step in a batch file as part of deploying a system from one set of computers to another.
