Use the
Add User/Group Account
dialog box to add a user or group to the system at runtime.To add a
FactoryTalk
security user, a Windows-linked user, or a Windows-linked group to the system at runtime- Press theAdd User/Groupbutton to open theAdd User/Group Accountdialog box.

- PressTypeto selectFactoryTalk Security User.
- In theNamebox, type the user name. The name is not case sensitive.
- In thePasswordbox, type the user password. The password is case sensitive.
- In theConfirm Passwordbox, type the user password again.
- Press theAdvancedbutton to set the following options if needed, and clickOK. The advanced settings are set toNoby default.
- User must change password at next logon
- User cannot change password
- Password never expires

- PressTypeto selectWindows-linked UserorWindows-linked User Group.TIP:When adding a Windows-linked user or a Windows-linked user group, the system will verify whether the user or group exists in the Windows User Accounts. If the user or group does not exist in the Windows User Accounts, it cannot be added.
- In theNamebox, type the user or group name. The name is not case sensitive.TIP:OnPanelView Plus 6andPanelView Plus 7terminals, there is a five-minute threshold when adding a Windows-linked user or a Windows-linked user group.
- When you add a Windows-linked user or a Windows-linked user group for the first time, a window prompts you to enter an authorized user name and password.
- Within five minutes after a Windows-linked user or a Windows-linked user group is successfully added, you can add another Windows-linked user, or Windows-linked user group without entering an authorized user name and password.
- Beyond five minutes after a Windows-linked user or a Windows-linked user group is successfully added, a window will prompt you to enter an authorized user name and password again before you can add another Windows-linked user, or Windows-linked user group.
The operation status shows in the
Result
box.
TIP:
- If the application is running on a computer that does not have an external keyboard or keypad, press theName,Password, andConfirm Passwordbuttons to open the string pop-up keyboard.
- A newly added user does not belong to any user group and has no runtime security code. The user cannot log in the system before the user is moved to an existing group that is configured with runtime security code(s).
