Use the Password dialog box
At runtime, the logged-in user can change
FactoryTalk Security
passwords using the Password
button. Policies determining password length, length of life, complexity, and alike, are set in the Security Policy Properties
dialog box of FactoryTalk Security
.
TIP:
- RSView 3.20 and earlier passwords are not case sensitive.FactoryTalk Securitypasswords are case sensitive. When 3.20 and earlier passwords are migrated, the resulting 4.00 passwords are lower case.
- Changing theFactoryTalk Securitypassword does not change the Windows-linked account domain password.
- The passwords for Windows-linked users can only be changed in Windows.
- The passwords for domain users can only be changed on domain servers.
To modify the current user password
- Press thePasswordbutton to open theChange Current User Passworddialog box.
- PressOld Passwordto enter the current password.
- PressNew Passwordto enter the new password.
- PressConfirm Passwordto enter the new password again.
- Press theChange Passwordbutton orEnter
on the external keyboard or string pop-up keyboard to change the password. The password change status shows in the
Resultfield.
To modify any user password
- Press thePasswordbutton to open theChange Any User Passworddialog box.
- PressSelect Userto open theFactoryTalk User Selectiondialog box.
- In theSelect Userfield, press theUporDownkey to select a user account.
- Press theSelectbutton, orEnter
on the external keyboard or string pop-up keyboard to select the user account.
- PressNew Passwordto enter the new password.
- PressConfirm Passwordto enter the new password again.
- Press theChange Passwordbutton, orEnteron the external keyboard or string pop-up keyboard to change the password. The operation status shows in theResultfield.

Use the buttons
- UpPress this button to move up the selection.
- DownPress this button to move down the selection.
- CancelPress this button to close the dialog box without any action.
Use other keys
- DeletePress this key on an external keyboard to clear the box that the cursor is in.
- BackspacePress
on an external keyboard or keypad to delete the character in front of the cursor. Hold the button down to delete multiple characters.
- Left arrowPress this key on an external keyboard to move the cursor to the left.
- Right arrowPress this key on an external keyboard to move the cursor to the right.
