Set up connections for an alarm list

Use the
Connections
tab of the
Alarm List Properties
dialog box to assign tags or expressions to control an alarm list remotely. Connections will override the settings on the
Display
tab of the
Alarm List Properties
dialog box.
To set up tags and expressions for an alarm list
  1. In the
    Graphics Display
editor, double-click the alarm list to open its
    Properties
    dialog box.
  2. On the
    Connections
tab, assign a tag or expression to the following connections:
    • ActiveAcknowledged
    • ActiveUnacknowledged
    • AlarmIdentifier
    • InactiveAcknowledged
    • InactiveUnacknowledged
      TIP:
      • If you assign a tag, the application reads the value of the tag at the data source, and assigns this value to the connection.
      • If you assign an expression, the application calculates the value of the expression and determines the conditions whose matching alarms will be shown in the alarm list.
      • If the assigned tag or expression value is non-zero, alarms matching the alarm condition related to the connection will be shown.
      • If the assigned tag or expression value is zero, alarms matching the alarm condition will not be shown.
      • If a tag or expression is assigned to a connection, the connection settings override the settings on the
        Display
        tab, if any.
      • At runtime, the Alarm Identifier specified on the
        Messages
        tab of the
        Alarm Setup
editor will be written to the numeric tag assigned to the AlarmIdentifier connection only if the
        Use Alarm Identifier
check boxes are selected on the
        General
        tab of the graphic object's
        Properties
        dialog box and the
        Messages
        tab of the
        Alarm Setup
        editor. If the
        Alarm Identifier
        column is blank on the
        Messages
        tab of the
        Alarm Setup
        editor and the
        Use Alarm Identifier
check boxes on both tabs are selected, zero will be written to the numeric tag.
