Restore an application

Use this dialog box to create an application from an application archive (*.apa) file.
When restoring an application, you will not be prompted to validate user rights, and the security configuration of each project is preserved.
To restore an application
  1. Select
    Restore application
    and click
    Next
    , or double-click the *.apa file to launch
    FactoryTalk View
    ME Application Manager.
  2. Select the archive file that you wish to restore. You can click the
    Browse
    button (...) to search for and select the file. The default location for backup archives is
    \Users\Public\Public Documents\RSView Enterprise\ME\Archives
  3. Click
    Next
    . If the archived application is passphrase protected, enter the correct passphrase and click
    OK
    .
  4. Enter the name of the new application to be created from the backup archive. The default name will be the name of the application that was originally archived.
    TIP:
    When restoring an application, if the name is the same as an existing application, you will be prompted to overwrite the existing application. If you want to overwrite it, click
    Yes
    . If you do not want to overwrite it, click
    No
    and enter another name.
    When you enter a new application name, do not exceed 32 characters. If the application name exceeds the maximum 32 characters allowed by
    FactoryTalk View Studio
    , errors and warning messages will show.
  5. Click
    Finish
    .
The restore process begins. If the name is valid, a progress bar appears.
